sawadiikha!
before i forget i have a few items of buisness:)
1 i have a new email account as you can see! myldsmail has finally been updated and they just gave my address. boring. but, atleast it has my first name in it! ha, sis richins and i were talking the other day about how we miss our names. i really do.
2 does anyone know how to get bike greese out of clothes? ha im tired of having black spots on all the bottom of my skirts!
3 mom i talked to sister peterson, the senior office missionary. she said to buy the plane tickets and also a one way for me:) the church will reimburse with the normal fee. be in bangkok the 3rd.. i dont know how long to stay, thats up to you.. i would say atleast a week? i have no idea. then if you want to go to the hong kong temple on the way home that would be cool too, but that is up to you as well, im good either way!
this past week was great. im learning to love the little things about thailand, like the ramdom cows seen in random parts of the city, the fighter planes that fly over a few times a day (like the ones on the 4th of july! there is a base close by and they fly around practicing..), the clogged streets due to way to many vehicles of all sorts, trying to go both ways on a road not even big enough for a one way, with vehicles parked on the sides of the roads, the horrible nasty smell avery once in awhile coming from the wat ( ok this needs some explaining.. one morning my nose was filled with a smell of burning hair and other smell that i have never smelled before, and could faintly hear buddhust chanting. i finally asked my comp what it was.. it is a body being burnt at the wat that is close by!!! they do a crazy chanting ceremony and funerals and then burn the body in the casket in front of everyone! i got so grossed out and didnt even want to breath! hah we tried to hold our breath, but long periods of breath holding only makes me about pass out.. ive gotten more used to it now..) and the hundreds of motorcycles and scooters. and i thought italy had a lot of them!
last thurs/friday we had interviews and zone conf in khonkheen, a few hours away. we got to sleep in the cactun (cactus but thais cant end a word with an s..) it was a fun little getaway! in our spare time walking the small city streets/dirt roads handing out flyers for free english class. zone conf was really motivating. i found out that we the only sisters in the zone take the lead in numbers right now.. numbers arent really anything, but that really surprised me because i thought that our numbers were bad! that scares me for thailand. the church needs so much growth here right now, but the people just wont have it. i wish that i could just scream out this message to the whole country like in little rascals "people, people, we need your salvation!!!" we need so many more missionaries in this world, especially thailand. its sad that the numbers are going down. chan, matt, and everyone else, WE NEED YOU!!! start teaching the kids so early to be the best missionaries because that is what we need! the Lord needs the best that we can possibly be. zone conf was about finding new investigators, 1/3 of the mission had 0 new investigators 2 weeks ago. that is horrible!!!! it makes me so sad. its time for us all to really step it in gear and gather more people in. i have so much motivation right now, i am going to really try and not let it burn out. i remember ryan once writing in his email about how after zone conf and such he is on fire, but then he works it so hard that it fizzles a little. it is so true. i am really going to try and not let that happen!
how is sky and brynn doing? i hope all is well! they are always remembered in my prayers!
dad, yesterday we were in charge of making the district sunday dinner (yes, the elders have an oven!!!! hurray!!!!) for us and the 4 elders, i made dutch babies, it made me think of you:) the elders called me panicking that they were exploding and then took it out of the oven and it shrank. i was laughing.. so gooooood. it was a little piece of home. not too much longer and ill be enjoying those again with you on sundays!
andie~ i hear that your having housing problems. dont worry who you live with because itll be for only a semester! make sure you find somewhere that we both can live;) i cant wait lou! i miss you so much! keep your head up. youre so incredible girl!!!!!
elder wimmer! youll have a letter coming hopefully soon.. but, i wanted to comment on your emails.. you have kebabs!!!!! so delicious!!! i miss those from europe. eat one for me!!! in bangkok is an amazing bakery that on special occasions i can go get a sandwich (sandwiches dont really exist in thailand) its called au bon pain.. then i wanted to respond to your question from awhile ago about the language. honestly it is what everyone tells you. just open your mouth and speak as much as you can! never hold back. use your lang study to the best you can and make a lang study plan, pray for the gift, and then also it just takes time. lots of time... also, just a tip from my mission pres. hardly ever is heavenly father mentioned in the bom, most if the "God"s and "Lord"s are Christ:) i miss you morgy!
