okay I am so sorry i have almost no time. sorry grandpa larry. my grammar is gunna be awful. okay so this week was incredible!! we have been so blessed. so we have a baptism this saturday his name is Bruno. and other than him we have 4 more baptismal dates. the Lord has blessed us so much. it is rough. we work a lot!! but it is good.
we played basket ball on saturday and the french are so bad!! i was like mj to all of them! their jaws were on the ground. i was dropping 3 left and right. i won everytime! haha. i think my giant comp was getting frustrated.
okay well today we are going to vanessa. her and her little sis. both have a baptismal date. she is 28 and her sis is 23. they are so cool! she reminds me of ash with all the stuff she makes and her house. but she is black so she doesnt look much like her.
okay well we have a rendez-vous so i really have to go.

Hey!
Oh man last week was so crazy!!!
It started with Monday night at the President of Branch 2's house -prataan brichaa- 2 of our investigators camem, it was an awesome night, snacking on bugs before the meal, the kind you have to pull the wings off before you eat them. That night it took me a long time to get to sleep, just hoping that i wouldnt have to leave these people. they are amazing.
tuesday at the time when the call was supposed to come saying if we were moving or not, the elders called and said that moves was postponed until friday so we wouldnt find out until wednesday. we taught a ton of lessons, racing from place to place, and then english on tuesday night: 1/2 of it in the dark and way way hot because the power was randomly out so no lights or air (happens every once in awhile.) of course it was the day that we had about 70 people show for class, more than i have ever seen at english class before.
Wednesday the call finally came in the afternoon and told me that i was moving! right after studies we went to grab something to eat and then the elders called again while we were eating and told us that the meeting was moved again, that we would be leaving that night at 3 in the morning! we raced home, grabbed the d&cs and christ pictures that i had bought to give a few people and then went all over town delivering them and saying goodbye. so hard. we got home at 9 and then the packing began. its not easy packing up everything you own into a few small suitcases! sister niw (one of my favorite members ever. i love her.) and her husband came to pick us up in their truck at 2:30 in the morning, it was POURING rain. when we got to the bus station one of my investigators who is getting baptized in august and her new boyfriend King (a member who met her through us!) were at the bus station to say goodbye! so sweet. we piled on a bus and headed for bangkok, stopping all the way there picking up other missionaries. i got about and hour or 2 of sleep that night.
so now i am in chaing mai!!!!!!! ive had the best areas ever. i got the best area in bangkok, got to head way out to the essan (the east) and now i am in the only companionship of sisters in the northwest. ive gotten everywhere! i couldnt believe it! it is beautiful here (sorry the only pic ive taken so far is this morning with my comp) the bus ride up was crazy. we went on a public bus (after speeding there in the APs van- and i thought the taxi drivers were crazy- we were way late. i thought i was going to die!) we headed out at 10 pm, i finally got to sleep and then at 2 am they turned on the lights, blasted music, and made everyone get off and eat a meal while they filled up gas. im sorry but any food, especially thai food, does not taste very good at 2 in the morning. we got back on and then watched the beautiful sunrise and scenery of the north, driving through the hills. chaing mai has mountians!(well more of hills) i have missed mts.
im back to the start here. there is nothing! it is just a TON of inviting. we have found and taught a few people so far, 2 families who are from some hill tribes, the parents dont speak thai, they speak one of the hill tribe languages, so the kids have to translate. every once i a while i see a tribe family down in the city for some reason, all wearing their brightly colored beautiful clothing. crazy! i asked one of them how much it would be to buy an outfit, she said it would take two years to make first because they are all handstitched with tiny brightly colored stitches.
Yesterday we went to a funeral of a member whos family is protestant. oh man that was interesting. a thai-protestant funeral out in the boonies surrounded by bamboo, huge crosses on every grave (only about 30 of them). and old rickety truck pulled up with four thai men in the back holding the casket. the preacher doing crazy things with guitars and singing in the background. the other graves had food, water and alcohol on them, they are still a little mixed up with the buddhist way of offerings for the ancestors to eat. oh thailand.
this next week is going to be suuuuuper long, im not too excited for inviting all day long in the heat, but hopefully soon we can get this area going with the Lord's help!

well hello fam and friends. this week was good.
mon we ate crepes and yes we made white syrup ha with the help of cate.
this week we are having a fiesta. i made a pinyada last night. its pretty cool. we are going to eat navaho ( icant spell) tacos.
last week we had some good apointments and some bad ones and some fell through as usual. we had one with this black dude we met on the bus he was really excited to talk to us. he loves Jesus. well we went over and taught him the first lesson. he started to argue with us when i bore my testimony that i know that this is the only true church and commanded me "in the name of Jesus"with black man emphasis that i can not bare my testimony. but we learn as members of the church that our testimonies we give are recorded in heaven and someday will help people now or later.
our baptismal dates are doing ok but kindof flakey. we have one really solid one sharissa. she is a black "model" she is super nice and now we are teaching to of her friends. she hopefully is coming tonight.
yesterday we had a speciall stake conf for europe. bednar and pakker spoke via sattelite. bednar gave a really good talk except for he gave the same talk pretty much exactly one year ago when i was in the mtc.
ok its world cup soccer in south africa as you may know. you would think its here though this place is covered in orange the streets have orange flags everywhere. today nederland playes denmark. everybody is wearing orange.
im doing good. i think i might need some new shoes. mom i bought some plain toe shoes at di last year you could send those to me if you want i think it might be cheaper. dad should know which ones.

Hey!
Well we have transfers this week, everyone keeps telling me im outta here (udon) i hope not. things are going incredible! i have an awesome companion that works hard and also knows how to have tons of fun. We have 9 investigators with baptismal dates and we will hopefully get another 2-3 this week!! hah on thursday we were racing everywhere, didnt have enough time to even get all our studies in! we taught 8 lessons that day! its really rocking here. its amazing to look back in my old journals and see how you if you endure through the hard times you are truly blessed. that is definitely the theme of my mission. looking for the rainbows through the storm and then experiencing the peaceful cool beauty once it lets up. Its the storms that humbles us and keeps us remembering our Heavenly Father, and helps us appreciate the beautiful moments. I wish i could be better and learn to be humble at all times, depend on the Lord at all times. But, were human. the natural man starts to seep through and we need another reminder from Him.
elder booth, and elder that 'dies' or finishes his mission with me was telling a member that he only has three 'moves' or transfers left. that hit me, i didnt realize how little time i have left. crazy. i cant believe that. exciting and sad at the same time. thats as much time as i have been in udon!
thank you for the birthday package! the zone leaders went to bangkok for a meeting and brough it back. thank you thank you! delicious and so cute. it was perfect! the bad so cute, im wearing the headband right now, for the 4th day already. the candy and cake, american! the letters, the best. thank you so much! coops, thanks for the chinese lantern:) ive been gone for 3 of the past 4 birthdays, last year there 4 days before the mtc! hah i wonder where ill be next year?
last tuesday morning we were inviting and got into a house teaching them when the assistants called us twice in a row, we left quicky because we thought that it must be really important and called them back. They called because the zone leaders were telling them about how good my peanut butter cookies were on Sunday and were reserving a batch for thurs night when they would be coming on switchoffs. Elders!!!!! Luckily before we left we got their number and went back on Thursday. Hah 3 of them werent too interested, they would stop talking and then left to buy illegal lottery tickets, but noi stayed and learned with us. she is awesome! im really excited about her.
We dont have much time:( I wrote the above a few hours ago, but as we were writing the power went out, so we went and served/visited an investigator and now we're back, though now dont have much time!
We found and taught a man named Win and his family in a catholic school the other day! It felt wierd teaching about our as ours. I havent taught many christians. Its so hard! im used to teaching who God and Jesus Christ are and about prayer for the first few lessons. His wife isnt interested, she is way catholic so well have to turn him over to the Elders:( It was neat though, we asked him why he wants to learn with us and he said "yong my im phrakamphi" or im not full/satisfied with the scriptures. he feels like there has to be more. It is such a blessing to be able to tell him that there is!!!!
ok im running out of time, but want to quicky throw in a few "only in Thailand" things:
we were visiting our recent convert guy's mom's house (her mom and family thinks that she is wierd for always reading scriptures and going to church so we went to be friends with her) haha she is scared of us! she would hardly even talk with us! she is scared that we will convince her to change too... :) anyway, we were there and an old lady with like 2 teeth came by on her rickety bike selling dead bats that she had caught for people to eat.
Also, one of our recent converts always wears a necklace that looks like a little case with seashells in it. i commented on how i liked it to be nice. she told me that they were a few of her mom and dad's teeth! hah sorry mom and dad, im not doing that...
Before i forget, can you send me a lasagna and a taco recipe, a member asked me for one and i said id ask my fam to email me one:)

hello. this week was a good one. the museums were amazing. i think i like the van gogh museaum better. the rijks was amazing but a little repetative. although the Rembrants were unbelievable!
this week we had a lot of joint teaches set up with our baptismal dates. but a lot of them fell through. it is really frustrating when you have somebody come along to help teach and the person we are teaching doesnt show up. on the other hand we have alot of investigators. and they are serious. they are reading and praying everyday to find an answer. except for one guy who says he wants to recieve an answer without reading the book of mormon. he sais he doesnt want the book to convince him. he doesnt undarstand. he got into a lot of weird anti stuff and has a hard time believing. on the other hand we had some great lesons. we had kim come with us to teach a girl. they really connected. kim is a recent convert of 3 months super stronng.
one of our investigators is chinese. great guy. its nice to teach somebody that is smart. he really thinks about things and has good questions. he is reading everyday and praying 4 to 5 times a day! this one will be baptized. we have another south american girl we are teaching who only speaks spanish! we have to take a translator. we promised her if she were to read in the BoM for thirty min eveyday for a week she will recieve an answer. on sunday she told us she has been reading for 15 min each week and is going to do it for 2 weeks. ha ha. man its hard to get people to come to church out here.
this week we as a companionship had 5 in church. its not bad but we can do better.
well today for pday we are going to go eat at my new favorite restaurant. it is a tall glass building. and it is on stilts above the city. its a 360 degree view of amsterdam so cool. you cant see it from the ground. i didnt even know it was there. a member took us there this week.
MOM ok i need the recipe for the white syrup that our family makes for crepes! i need it now because we are going to make them tonight with all the young adults and i am going to blow their minds and taste buds off. so will you send the recipe with instructions right when you read this to *************** its catherinas email she told me to tell you to send it to her. her and her sister tried to call you yesterday to get it ha ha they are awesome. they gave me a 1 year present, a tie and some drop ( black liccorice!) tell them thank you.
i was on the computer the same time as morg today!

okay so this week we got 2 baptismal dates. president carter is big on commiting our investigators to baptism each lesson. so we tried it. it worked with one. and then we were kinda scared to do it with this other girl because we had only taught her twice but we had a sweet lesson and she really felt the spirit so elder mayer says simply "we can set a baptismal date if you want." haha she did!! i have never heard someone give a baptismal date like that. we will see if they pull it through. today we are really hoping to get another date today.

ALOT of denial. haha so i said a little prayer in my heart to find someone. right as i said that a family comes waking around the corner. haha i was so happy i walk up to them and say "hey me and my collegue.." i didnt get a chance to finish before the dude says he doesnt want anything to do with it. well the next person was sitting down on a bench he says "hey your the mormons" which is really rare here because everyone thinks we are jahovas witness' so we say "yeah we are do you want to hear our message" and he starts laughing and says "NO!! your a sect!!" haha so we explained our message anyways and he was interested. thats not the end.. haha so we try like 20 more times and we stroll across 2 24 year old dudes. drinking of coarse. we start off the contact and then ask if we can talk to them another time. they told us why not now? so we sat down and gave them all 3 lessons in an hour and a half. ones dad died recently and they are cousins. we gave away 2 book of mormons to them both and the one whos dad died askes us if he can get another for his mom. haha so we tossed him another. it was so cool. they are coming to play soccer with us saturday and have a lesson after. they are also coming to stake conference. i am so excited!!
okay so anyone who doesnt know, my mom is awesome!! she just ran a 50 mile race!! haha and about 5 miles in 2 feet of snow. I love you mom!! thanks for all you do! talk to you all next week!!

ALOT of denial. haha so i said a little prayer in my heart to find someone. right as i said that a family comes waking around the corner. haha i was so happy i walk up to them and say "hey me and my collegue.." i didnt get a chance to finish before the dude says he doesnt want anything to do with it. well the next person was sitting down on a bench he says "hey your the mormons" which is really rare here because everyone thinks we are jahovas witness' so we say "yeah we are do you want to hear our message" and he starts laughing and says "NO!! your a sect!!" haha so we explained our message anyways and he was interested. thats not the end.. haha so we try like 20 more times and we stroll across 2 24 year old dudes. drinking of coarse. we start off the contact and then ask if we can talk to them another time. they told us why not now? so we sat down and gave them all 3 lessons in an hour and a half. ones dad died recently and they are cousins. we gave away 2 book of mormons to them both and the one whos dad died askes us if he can get another for his mom. haha so we tossed him another. it was so cool. they are coming to play soccer with us saturday and have a lesson after. they are also coming to stake conference. i am so excited!!
okay so anyone who doesnt know, my mom is awesome!! she just ran a 50 mile race!! haha and about 5 miles in 2 feet of snow. I love you mom!! thanks for all you do! talk to you all next week!!
