jordan 7.1.09

Ok well this week was kindof crazy. we had a fireside where 7 of the 12 apostles were there, elder holland talked. it was great. then on wed. my comp and i were in class and we were called down to the front office. we were wondering what in the world could this be about? and by the way the whole entire mtc was pretty much shut down from wed till sunday last week for the mission presidents and apostles and first presidency walking around. they didnt want the missionaries to interact with anybody because of the "swine flu" so nobody got to see their mission prez or anything. they had all of 1m shut down(that the main building) the lunch room was divided in half. soo crowded. so back to the part where we were called to 1m building. "the restricted access, SORRY bout it" the had a ton of security guards and everything we had to go through. they led us into this meeting room with a huge long table and these big ol comfy seats. there were 36 other elders in the room. we didnt know what we were in there for. finally this bald dude walks in( one of the head security guys) and talks to us for a while. he told us on sunday you are going to be passing the sacrament to a very important group of people. he said the whole first presidency and the chorum of the 12 plus 50 general authorities and all the new mission presidents. And thats it. you will be the only elers in there. then they told us we had to be dressed good and all that other good stuff. and he told us we also had to come in friday night to practice passing. so we went in on friday and practiced in the room. it was about the same size as a normal chapel. They randomly assigned us our jobs. my comp got the job of blessing the bread. ahhh im glad i didnt get that one id be way to nervous. the way they had the sacrament tables layed out was different than an ordinary sacrament. they had 3 separate tables set up. the main one at the front. the second in the middle off to the side and the third in the back off to the side. I was given the assignment to break the bread and administer on the back table. it was pleanty close for me. So when sunday came around we were once again placed in a restricted room. they made us wash our hands super good. then we poured each sacrament cup by hand with cold dasani water. not to full, oh no. just right below the brim. so finally we were ready. we went into the sacrament room and not to forget we had our own assigned seating andeverything, dont worry about it. and also from our first meeting we had about this on we were not aloud to say anything about what we were doing or who was going to be there or anything. SO! Im just sitting there the place starts to fill up with mission presidents before you know it members of the 12 and im sure ther was a lot of general authorities but i couldnt tell the difference. finally everybody is seated. we were just waiting on the first presidency. then all the sudden everybody stood up and there they were. they wanted us to get the sacrament done with quick so the prophet could have more time to talk. thats why they had so 36 elders. so my comp gave the prayer. he did a good job, there was no st st st st studders. and broke the bread so good and fast that it couldnt be done any better. it was great . then we sat down and got to listen to the prophet of the lord speak with his first and second councelors behind him and 11 of the 12 present. Packer was "sick." i was just sitting there thinking how in the world did i get here. here i am sitting in this meeting with the most important people in the whole church all in one room. it was amazing. prez mons talk was rad. it was so cool to see him in that kindof setting. he was so relaxed and so funny just crackin joke after joke. he was speaking to all the miossion prez how to do everytyhing. and to just be really nice and to buill up he gave so many good stories i wish i had time to say them all. it was amazing I am a lot more ready to be a mission president than i am a missionry.
